22 Oct 2011 At the recent meeting of Lighting Technology Strategy in Europe, Lemnis Lighting company disclosed details of establishing partnership with the famous home products retailer IKEA and prodviding LED lightings to IKEA. Lemnis Lighting company is a Dutch manufacturer of LED lighting. Martijn Dekker, the CTO of Lemnis Lighting, announced that Lemnis would sign a long term sales contract with IKEA which is a giant home products retailer of Sweden at the meeting of European Lighting Technology Strategy. Lemnis Lighting will provide high quality and cost effective LED lighting fixtures to IKEA. The first batch of products will be sold very soon in IKEA, including 400 lumens and 200 lumens LED bulbs. "The price to replace 45W bulb is 9.99 euros, while to replace 25W bulb the cost is 6.99 euros. The color temperature of 400 lumens LED bulb is 2700K, the CRI is greater than 85 and lifetime is over than 20000 hours. The LED design combines two red LEDs and four phosphor-coated blue LEDs. " Dekker said. Lemnis establishes the business pratnership with IKEA aiming at reducing the LED lighting market retail price to be easy for the average consumer acceptance. Dekker called it "virtual vertical integration company", involving retailers, lighting manufacturers, cooperative LED manufacturing partners located in India and other supplier partners, to share project risks. Their goal is to provide long-term, large 8/klm dollar LED lamps. The reason why Lemnis chooses India as manufacturing base is that the staff turnover in India is much lower than that in China. However, Dekker also admited that a lot of components actually come from China LED manufcaturers.
