Speak of the lifespan of LEDs ( called the forth generation light source ), LEDs are extremely reliable by the nature of their design and the way they are constructed, generally speaking, individual LEDs has very long lifespan expectancy with very low failure rates.

Following is the list to show rated lifespan for different light source: 

Incandescent: 750 to 2,000 hours

Halogen incandescent: 3,000 to 4,000 hours

Compact fluorescent ( CFL ): 8,000 to 10,000 hours

Metal halide: 7,500 to 20,000 hours

Linear fluorescent: 15,000 to 20,000 hours

High power white LED: 35,000 to 50,000 hours
